Lawrence, Team Wellington and Capital Football announce 2018 Team Wellington Youth Squad
Team Wellington and Capital Football are thrilled to announce the Team Wellington Youth squad for the 2018 Season.
After the week-long trial process, including a game against Hawkes Bay United Youth, Head Coach Natalie Lawrence is extremely excited with the final squad.
“I’m really happy with the standard of players that have been selected. It’s an exciting group with great representation from clubs around the Wellington region from Island Bay to Wairarapa, and I think there is a good mix of age as well as a genuine balance amongst the players.
“Again, it’s such an exciting group and all of us can’t wait to get started”.
It’s been a few seasons since Team Wellington has teamed up with Capital Football and Lawrence is determined to continue to develop the pathway from the youth space to the men’s first team.
“We will be continuing to develop a strong relationship with Jose and Scott as we definitely believe there are players in the group that will be pushing to make the first team, and we want to establish that mindset as the bench mark.
“Given the success of Team Wellington in the recent seasons, it’s very exciting for players to have that as a goal to work toward and we want to give them every opportunity to do so.”
Scott Hales, Team Wellington Assistant Coach, who assisted throughout the trial process, reiterated the excitement surrounding the squad.
“It was very pleasing to see the talent coming through the ranks, and we will be following closely the progression of the players, hoping to give them exposure to the first team environment throughout the season”.
Lawrence and Assistant Coach, Harry Rickus, have developed a comprehensive build up, including a warm up fixture against Team Wellington, to enable the team to be primed and ready for their first match against Hamilton Wanderers on the 13th of October in Hamilton.
