Batchelor signs for Team Wellington

Team Wellington are pleased to confirm the signing of youngster, Max Batchelor ahead of the 2019/20 ISPS Handa Premiership season.

The London-born striker played for Aldershot Town for three years before he moved to West Sussex to play for Crawley Town during the 2015/16 season.

At the conclusion of his season, the 19-year old moved to New Zealand at the start of 2017 where he joined the Wellington Phoenix Academy and spent two years in their set up.

Team Wellington are pleased to confirm the signing of New Zealand age group International, Ollie Whyte, ahead of the 2019/20 ISPS Handa Premiership. 

The Wellington-born youngster began started his football career with local club, Waterside Karori before joining the Wellington Phoenix Academy where he spent three years in their set up. 

The 19-year old then spent a year abroad where he played for Portuguese side, Rio Ave FC in Primera Liga.

Team Wellington sign skilful defender from Montenegro

Team Wellington are pleased to confirm the signing of 31-year old defender, Stevan Marković ahead of the 2019/20 ISPS Handa Premiership. 

Signed from the Montenegrin First League side, FK Mornar, Marković is the 19th player to be signed for the upcoming season. 

Born in Bar, Montenegro, Marković began his youth career with FK Vojvodina before signing with his local side, FK Mornar where he would play for three seasons before moving to OFK Grbalj.

Team Wellington sign Ben Mata after successful trial

Team Wellington are pleased to announce the signing of 21-year old defender, Ben Mata following a successful two week trial.

The Auckland born and raised centre back started his junior football with Papakura City FC and in 2015 was called in to the New Zealand U-17 side making his debut during the OFC Championship.

Mata then went on to represent his country at the FIFA U-17 World Cup before the side were eliminated in the Round of 16 against Brazil U-17.

Team Wellington are pleased to confirm that midfielder, Mario Barcia, has returned to New Zealand and signed with the club after a season with Indonesian side, Semen Padang.

The 29-year old, Argentinian born player, who has made 79 appearances for Team Wellington over four seasons, was an influential figure in the squad that helped the club to their inaugural FIFA Club World Cup in 2018.

Barcia made a name for himself with the opening goal of the competition against Al Ain, which eventually saw the host side take the win and advance through to the next round.

Team Wellington Youth Squad named for 2019 campaign

Team Wellington and the Ole Football Academy renew their partnership for the upcoming National Youth League commencing this weekend with the first game on Sunday 6th.

The partnership includes a sponsorship and coaching component that will see the Youth side coached by Ben Sippola.

All clubs throughout the region were invited to nominate potential players for the team. Over 80 nominations were received from 15 clubs, with three trial games and training held over the last 2 weeks. Team Wellington wishes to thank the clubs and players for their support in this process.

Following the trials, a squad of 23 training players, has been finalised. In addition, a further six U-19 players have been included in the senior first team as Team Wellington looks ahead to the 2019/20 ISPS Handa Premiership and the 2019 National Youth League season.

Team Wellington confirm goalkeepers ahead of the 2019/20 ISPS Handa Premiership

Team Wellington are pleased to announce the return of number one goalkeeper, Scott Basalaj and welcome new signing Keegan Smith ahead of the 2019/20 ISPS Handa Premiership season.

Basalaj first joined Team Wellington during the 2010/11 season and has gone on to play over 100 games for the club becoming an instrumental member of the squad over the years.

The 25-year old, Wellington born keeper has also represented New Zealand at age group level playing for both the U-17 and U-20 sides.

Team Wellington sign talented youngster, Marko Stamenic

Team Wellington are pleased to announce the signing of promising local midfielder, Marko Stamenic ahead of the 2019/20 ISPS Handa Premiership.

The 17-year old was part of the Western Suburbs side that claimed the 2019 Central League title, earlier this year.

Having developed through the ranks at Ole Academy, after his junior football with Stokes Valley and Lower Hutt, Stamenic was called in to the New Zealand U-17 age group side making his debut against the Solomon Islands in September of 2018.
