Mason-Smith makes a welcome return to Team Wellington

Team Wellington are pleased to announce the signing of Sam Mason-Smith who has arrived in the capital ahead of the opening weekend of 2019/20 ISPS Handa Premiership. 

Mason-Smith moved from England to New Zealand to join Nelson based side, Richmond Athletic before a move to Wellington saw him play for Team Wellington and Miramar Rangers over the summer and winter seasons respectively from 2012 to 2015.

Team Wellington are pleased to confirm the signing of youngster, Max Batchelor ahead of the 2019/20 ISPS Handa Premiership season.

The London-born striker played for Aldershot Town for three years before he moved to West Sussex to play for Crawley Town during the 2015/16 season.

At the conclusion of his season, the 19-year old moved to New Zealand at the start of 2017 where he joined the Wellington Phoenix Academy and spent two years in their set up.

Team Wellington are pleased to confirm the signing of New Zealand age group International, Ollie Whyte, ahead of the 2019/20 ISPS Handa Premiership. 

The Wellington-born youngster began started his football career with local club, Waterside Karori before joining the Wellington Phoenix Academy where he spent three years in their set up. 

The 19-year old then spent a year abroad where he played for Portuguese side, Rio Ave FC in Primera Liga.

Team Wellington sign skilful defender from Montenegro

Team Wellington are pleased to confirm the signing of 31-year old defender, Stevan Marković ahead of the 2019/20 ISPS Handa Premiership. 

Signed from the Montenegrin First League side, FK Mornar, Marković is the 19th player to be signed for the upcoming season. 

Born in Bar, Montenegro, Marković began his youth career with FK Vojvodina before signing with his local side, FK Mornar where he would play for three seasons before moving to OFK Grbalj.

Team Wellington sign Ben Mata after successful trial

Team Wellington are pleased to announce the signing of 21-year old defender, Ben Mata following a successful two week trial.

The Auckland born and raised centre back started his junior football with Papakura City FC and in 2015 was called in to the New Zealand U-17 side making his debut during the OFC Championship.

Mata then went on to represent his country at the FIFA U-17 World Cup before the side were eliminated in the Round of 16 against Brazil U-17.

Team Wellington welcome Barcia back to the capital

Team Wellington are pleased to confirm that midfielder, Mario Barcia, has returned to New Zealand and signed with the club after a season with Indonesian side, Semen Padang.

The 29-year old, Argentinian born player, who has made 79 appearances for Team Wellington over four seasons, was an influential figure in the squad that helped the club to their inaugural FIFA Club World Cup in 2018.

Barcia made a name for himself with the opening goal of the competition against Al Ain, which eventually saw the host side take the win and advance through to the next round.

Team Wellington are delighted to announce the signing of Auckland born defender, Scott Midgley.

The 24-year old arrives in the capital following a successful winter season with Westerns Springs AFC who finished fourth in the LOTTO NRFL Premier Men’s competition.

After playing his junior football with Auckland side, Central United before progressing through the Auckland City youth ranks, Midgley spent 3 seasons playing with Missouri State University making 54 appearances for their first team.

Team Wellington secure another local talent ahead of new season

Team Wellington are pleased to announce the signing of 19-year old defender, Josh Rogerson.

The young centre-back was part of the 2019 Central League side with Western Suburbs who claimed the title in August of this year.

The Wellington born talent has also represented his country at age group level making his international debut for the New Zealand U-17 team in February 2017.

Head Coach, Scott Hales, has been open about his intent to develop and work with local players as the club looks to retain the best talent in the region and Rogerson is no different.
