Team Wellington Re-Sign Club Favourites

Team Wellington are pleased to announce experienced midfielders, Andy Bevin and Nathanael Hailemariam have re-signed with the club ahead of the 2019/20 ISPS Handa Premiership.

Head Coach, Scott Hales, is excited to have both players back for another year and having worked with both of them over the last few seasons, will look to utilise their experience both on and off the pitch.

“Andy and Nati are not only quality players and great people but having them back this season is important for continuity within our environment and our quest for honours,” Hales said.

Bevin first signed for Team Wellington during the 2015/16 season and said his decision to play for the club for another year was an easy one.

“We've been one of New Zealand's top clubs for the past five seasons while I have been here and it was an easy decision to stay with the club for another year.

“We've won a lot of games, won several trophies, made some great memories and I have a lot of good relationships within the club,” Bevin said.

The 27- year old has made 87 appearances for the club and as an experienced member of the squad, has his own goals he’d like to achieve and believes his side is capable of success.

“The goal is to build on from last season and be successful.

“I'd love us to become minor premiers, something we haven’t done during my time at the club and if we focus on that, the opportunity to compete in the OFC Champions League again becomes a reality.”

“Personally, it’s about helping new players adjust and transition in to our Team Wellington environment seamlessly and for me to putt out strong, consistent performances each week.”

Hailemariam is no stranger to the ISPS Handa Premiership and with this being his fourth season with Team Wellington, he is looking forward to what the competition will hold.

“It will be interesting this year as we’ve seen a lot of changes across the clubs with coaches, staff and players so I’m looking forward to seeing how we all line up once the season starts.

“It’s great to have Scotty as our Head Coach this year – he’s been part of the success we’ve had before and for those of us returning, we know how he likes to play.

“It will be exciting to see what he has up his sleeve for us and we will all be focused on winning the league and getting back in to the OFC Champions League competition too,” he said.

Bevin and Hailemariam will join the team for pre-season in September.
