Nicolas Zambrano and Guillermo Moretti

Team Wellington is pleased to announce the signing of Nicolas Zambrano and Guillermo Moretti for the 2016-2017 Stirling Sports Premiership season.

Twenty-one year old Zambrano joins from Central United where he had an outstanding season scoring 20 goals and helping them to claim the Northern Premier League title. He was part of the Auckland City Youth side for the past few seasons and is looking forward to stepping up to the National League.

“I think any player would like to debut in a strong team in the league. This is my first premier season and there is no better way to learn and gain experience than playing for the previous champions Team Wellington.”

Team Wellington coach Jose Figueira, who coached Zambrano at Central United, is pleased to have him on board.

“I would like to welcome Nicolas to Team Wellington in what will be his first taste of National League Football. He was the spearhead of the Central United attack this season where his 20 goals in all competitions and killer instinct in front of goal showed he will be a welcome addition to the team.”

Twenty-five year old Argentinean defender Guillermo Moretti comes to Team Wellington after spending time with Club Atletico Newell’s Old Boys in the Argentina Premiera Division where his teammates included former Argentine international Maxi Rodriguez.

Figueira is happy to have secured Moretti.

“He is a combative, ball-playing defender who is the ideal fit for the way the team will be looking to play. He isn’t just comfortable on the ball in attack; he is just as happy and skilled to compete in defence.”
