Peverley was looking forward to the season ahead.
“This will be my 5th Team Wellington season and from what I can see a lot of last year’s squad is returning which is fantastic for the club and shows players believe what we can achieve this season. A big motivation for me was the appointment of Jose and the coaching staff he has supporting him and also players he has added and attracted back there is some real quality within the squad. We are all excited to get a good preseason under our belts and get started.”
He added, “Last year was a good season in the end where we managed to win the Grand Final which was fantastic for our club, fans and most importantly the Wellington community. This year it is important we don’t go backwards. We need retain the Premiership and most importantly go one step further in the Champions League. I believe with the current changes and the new thinking around how we will set up and play this year, this year’s squad can achieve those goals.”
Team Wellington coach Jose Figueira was pleased with the Peverley resigning, “A key member of the squad, Cole brings a huge amount of experience and quality to the ranks. Having his leadership and ability to control the play on the field is a major asset, and I believe within our playing concepts we will key him have even bigger influence on the field.”
