Player/assistant coach Bill Robertson

Comment: “The boys are very much looking forward to the game on Sunday after a weekend off. In such a short season every game is crucial. Out last result against Waitakere was very important and it is now essential we produce some consistency in our next two performances and pick up maximum points. We are aware of the threat that Southern United pose and know they are capable of causing an upset if we underestimate them. We haven’t been at our best yet this season and are working towards controlling games for longer periods and this will be our focus again on Sunday.”

Fact: Team Wellington boast in their wider squad the Southern Premier League Golden Boot winner for the 2015 winter season Tom Jackson – a key scorer for Southern United in last year’s ASB Premiership.

Coach Mike Fridge

Comment: “It’s going to be a difficult game, it’s a difficult place to go. We were a bit disappointed last weekend, we had some chances and we might have even sneaked a point. I was disappointed with the two goals conceded but we’ve had a chat about it and hopefully the players have taken it on board and there will be no similar goals conceded on Sunday. We are in good spirits and hopefully we can go up there and put in a good performance and take something from the game.”

Fact: Southern United’s last victory over Team Wellington in the ASB Premiership was as Otago United in 2012 at Westpac Stadium. They secured a 1-0 win thanks to an 84th-minute goal from Joel Stevens, who would join Team Wellington the following season.
