Musa key in TW victory

Team Wellington got back to winning ways in the ASB Premiership on Sunday with a 3-1 victory over Waitakere United at David Farrington Park in Wellington.

The hosts, who fell to a 2-1 loss to Canterbury United last week, led 1-0 at the break thanks to a 44th minute header from a corner by James Musa.

The visitors – under new coach Chris Milicich – rebounded early in the second half as Nathaniel Bowen levelled the match in the 49th minute, finishing beyond Scott Basalaj in the Team Wellington goal.

But last season’s OFC Champions League runners-up recovered later in the half as Musa again had his side in front; the Team Wellington defender controlling a flick from Chris Bale before powering home for a 2-1 lead in the 75th minute.

Two minutes later Joseph Dixon added an insurance goal; finishing off a cross from Conor McGlinchey after an excellent diagonal pass by Musa.

The result puts Team Wellington into fourth position while Waitakere United occupy seventh place in the standings after three rounds.
