Exodus Team Wellington is pleased to announce the signing of All White James Musa for the 2015-2016 ASB Premiership.
A familiar face to Team Wellington, Musa returns to the capital after captaining USL expansion team Saint Louis FC for their debut season in US soccer’s 2nd tier.
Since first joining Team Wellington as a 19 year old back in 2011, the athletic centre-half has proved a key contributor to the success of Team Wellington sides in reaching the 2012 and 2014 ASB premiership finals and O-League qualification in 2014 and 2015.
Musa came to the attention of the footballing public after signing a professional contract with the Wellington Phoenix in 2010 while still at Wanganui High School. After a short spell with the A-league side he linked with Team Wellington before enjoying stints with Fulham FC and South Melbourne.
He also impressed at international level representing New Zealand at the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2012 London Olympics, and making his senior debut for the All Whites against South Africa in 2014.
Musa was pleased to be back on board, “It’s great to be able to come back and hit the ground running. There is a real buzz around the squad this season and we are looking forward to the challenges ahead. The experience of leading St Louis has definitely helped improve my game as a player both on and off the field and I’m sure this will help me contribute to the success of the team”
Coach Matt Calcott was pleased to have a player of Musa’s calibre available for the season,
“James is a quality player that I would rate him among the top defenders in the country. We really missed his presence at the tail end of last season so it is great to have him back for an extended period this time round.”
